The mission of the Holy Trinity Respect Life Committee, working in conjunction with the Diocesan Office of Pro-Life Activities is to activate the Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities authored by the USCCB (United States Catholic Conference Bishops), in our parish in defense of human life
Public Information: Educate both the Catholic Community and the public at large about pro-life issues.
Pastoral Care: Provide spiritual/material support for those in need. Public Policy: A Legislative efforts directed to ensure effective legal protection for all human life. Prayer & Worship: directed to participation in the sacramental life of the church and in programs of communal and individual prayer.
Public Information: As directed by the Buffalo Diocese there are bulletin posts to educate the parishioners of pro-life issues and events.
Our parish recognizes the USCCB’s Respect Life month each October, Sanctity of Human Life Sunday in January and Natural Family Planning week in July.
To educate the public at large about pro-life issues we encourage participation in the annual Life Chain the first Sunday of October, and the March for Life in January. We are actively involved with the Vicariate Pro-Life Booth at the Orleans County Fair each July.
Pastoral Care: We encourage support of the local Pregnancy Center, Care Net of Greater Orleans Co., Albion, NY. Parishioners participate in their annual baby bottles fundraiser, as well as their Walk for Life, and various other fundraisers for the center. Catholic Daughters of America, Court Santa Maria encourages parishioners to participate in the court’s yearly baby shower for the pregnancy Center.
Via bulletin posts and e-mail parishioners are made aware of diocese events including post-abortive healing programs.
Public Policy: Every two years prior to November elections, Holy Trinity provides parishioners with literature educating them on the responsibility to participate with Catholic values in the election process. Throughout the year, via bulletin posts and e-mail parishioners are made aware of pending legislation and are encouraged to communicate with their elective representatives regarding the legislation.
Prayer & Worship: A rosary for pro-life is prayed each Wednesday at 5:00 P.M. at St. Stephen’s Church. Diocese and vicariate prayer events are encouraged via bulletin announcements and e-mail.
One need that the Holy Trinity Parish Respect Life ministry is your active participation, including but not limited to representation at the diocesan Vine & Branches meetings which are held a couple times a year. We are also ‘looking’ for a new coordinator, so as to enable the mission at Holy Trinity to thrive.
